Passover Week

FEAST OF PASSOVER/UNLEAVENED BREAD

Passover is the first of the spring holidays and is celebrated on the 14th day of Nisan. The word Passover, Pesach in Hebrew, means to “pass” or to “hover over.”

At the commandment of Adonai in Sh’mot (Exodus) 12:15, for the duration of the feast no leavened bread is eaten, therefore the week that immediately follows is called “The Feast of the Unleavened Bread”. Matzah (flat unleavened bread) is a symbol of the holiday.
